All My Children will not move west without its Daytime Emmy winning star, Susan Lucci. The actress will commute from east coast to west, deciding not to move her family from New York. The same goes for Vincent Irizarry (David). Today, the show released a list of cast members who would be making the move from New York to Los Angeles this January with the show. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to play the role of Erica Kane with All My Children in Los Angeles," Lucci told SOAPnet, "This move is a big vote of confidence and shows ABC's commitment to AMC." As for Lucci's onscreen daughter, Alicia Minshew who plays Kendall, Minshew will be on maternity leave starting in November.
The actress will air into December and will rejoin the show when it moves to L.A. at a later date, though exact details have not yet been worked out. Minshew's onscreen husband, Thorsten Kaye who plays Zach Slater, will not be making the move. According to Kaye's official website, Kaye will not be making the move out west, nor will he be commuting. His last tape date with All My Children may be in November. Kaye's partner, Susan Haskell, stars on New York based sister soap One Life to Live. Soap Opera Source always knew that it was a distinct possibility that Kaye would not separate from his family and continue on with All My Children.
As previously reported, Beth Ehlers will not be making the move as Taylor, nor will fellow co-star Aiden Turner as Aidan Devane. Turner's character will be ushered off of the canvas sometime after BethAnn Bonner (ex-Talia, OLTL) joins the show in the role of Kat starting the week of November 2nd. Kat will be tangled up in the Aidan/Kendall/Zach web. Also missing will be Brianne Moncrief's Colby and original cast member Joe MacDonnell, who has decided to retire from the role of Dr. Joe Martin, whom he's played for 40 years. MacDonnell still may pop up occasionally from time to time as storyline and availability dictates. This is the same case for recurring actors, including Jill Larson (Opal) and Daniel Kennedy (Pete).
According to SOAPnet, information on Chrishell Stause's (Amanda) decision to move was forthcoming. However, fans will remember that the actress confirmed she would be making the move out west on the red carpet of this year's Daytime Emmy Awards show. Stause, who was rumored to leave All My Children earlier in the year, had signed on with the show for the remainder of the year when her contract was up this spring.

... Have been watching AMC since it started. Loved it back in the Cliff and Nina days and the Jenny and Greg days. Tad was fun to watch when he was younger, making his rounds with all of the ladies (and thier mothers) . For the past couple of years the story lines have been terrible. I even stopped watching for a while.(Will quit completely if it doesn't get better). Some of the stories are so unrealistic its hard to watch. C'mon guys, get it together. I could do a better job! |

Get rid of Susan Lucci!! I hate Susan Lucci being with Ryan. She is just too old. She thinks she is so hot now that she has a new boob job. She should take a look at her neck! I do agree that you need Zack and Aiden on the show to make a go of it. Taylor was a really good actress. I think it is time for Adam to retire, but you would need someone just like him to take his place. JR really looks sick....I hope he is not. I'm ready for Greenlee to stir things up. Why not bring her husband, Bob on the show? |

... enjoyed "Zach", sorry to hear about his departure...get real with story line....Susan Lucci & Cameron pairing is discusting...her face is pulled so tight it looks unreal...Cameron could have been paired with anyone except this passe shrivelled actor...let her do what she is good at...looking in the mirror and telling herself how wonderful and perfect she is....what a vapid actor.have watched this soap for over 20 yrs....this latest story line will help me switch to Days of Our Lives.... |

... I have watched this soap opera ever since it began, there have been some ups and downs, some dumb episodes, but I kept the faith that things will get better, this last year has been a downer, now they up and move the show. I think they will lose a lot of viewers because some of the better characters are leaving. Plus we need new ideas for scripts, not the same ones the opher sopas use, we need to get back the numbers! ![]() |

... Thank goodness they fired the head writer. He has almost destroyed the show. Some of the things he did to the characters is insane. What he did to Aiden was just wrong. He has made it so almost everyone is unlikable. |

NO, NOT ZACH! Zach's oozing sensuality is the only reason I still watch AMC (and I've been a devoted viewer since the show's inception). I don't know if it's worth watching without Zach. And how long will it take for the commute to grow old for Susan Lucci? There's definitely no AMC without her. I don't understand this move. The production costs just can't be THAT much lower in LA. Nothing in LA is cheap. Sigh. |

Glad Zach is leaving! I'm sure Thorsten Kaye is a fine actor, but who can tell with the horrible story lines he's been given! The fact that he pushes everyone around, especially the police chief Jesse Hubbard was just ridiculous. His scenes were so bad, it was often painful to watch. That coupled with Kendall's constant whining just turned my stomach. Perhaps when she returns, we'll get a glimpse of the old Kendall. |
