Fans of As the World Turns' überpopular Brad & Katie (dubbed Bratie) were stunned yesterday when CBS Soaps-in-Depth mysteriously tweeted that Austin Peck, who plays Brad Snyder, had been unexpectedly fired from the show. The show has yet to confirm the news, but it's been confirmed by various soap news outlets including Soap Opera Digest. The firing is shrouded in mystery. However, TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco has now updated his Suds Report with what we'll call backstage rumors of the real reason for Peck's departure. There is at least some silver lining for the Bratie fans. Brad & Katie (Terri Colombino) won't be broken up per se. The role of Brad will not be recast. The character will be killed off by Jack Snyder (Michael Park), who will then embark on a spiritual expedition. Last year's #9 on TV Guide's list of Soaps' Sexiest Men, Peck joined the cast as Jack's younger brother in early 2007. Prior to his gig on As the World Turns, Peck was heating up fans living rooms on Days of Our Lives. Peck joined the cast of Days when Patrick Muldoon vacated the role of Austin Reed in 1995. He left the show in 2002 and returned for a one year stint in late 2005. Upon Peck and co-star Christie Clark's (ex-Carrie, Days) terminations due to "budget cuts," Peck's agent Michael Bruno landed him an audition with As the World Turns, where he's been since 2007. Peck then moved his family -- sons A.J. & Roman and wife Tara (whom he's reportedly separated from), to the East Coast upon landing the role of Brad. What's next for the soap stud? With the daytime roles on the East Coast rapidly drying up (see: Guiding Light's cancellation and All My Children's L.A. relocation), a move back west might be in order. I am so upset that cbs has droped Brad,I love the whole and Katie thing and was looking forward to seeing them with their new baby.
I think cbs has lost thier minds...first drop the GL and then try to drop Victor on YR. And how cold hearted can you be with the story line you have now?!?!!? when the GL was repaced I havn't watched any show that took that time slot,and I never will! On the YR had Victor left,I would not watch it anymore! and you killing off Brad the way you did was wrong,as a fan I seen Brad and Katie as a loving couple. All of this makes me wonder if I want to watch any cbs daytime!I am so upset there isn't much to enjoy and I can do without it easy If you can bring James S back to lift God knows HOW MANY TIMES???? for all the many fans that loves Brad you can say hes not really dead,after all you have him talking to Henry,got to say I don't like the whole ghost whisperer thing but I think you can make it work for you when you bring Brad back!!!!

The show has gone mad and so am I! Do you even care how long so many fans have waited for Katie to have her happily ever after!!!! I mean come on!!! They don't get to enjoy their happiness at all?! Bring Brad back!!! If budget cuts are the issue this does not make good business sense. If he had an affair, he isn't the first, get over it and move on. He is one of the few actors that isn't tired from the constant reheating of old story lines. He darling, funny and an excellent actor. It has been entertaining to watch his character mature and bring out the best in Katie's character which was pretty boring before. There are so many actors that could easily be cut and not missed. Damian, Lilly, Audrey, Uncle Ralph, Terri, Maddie just to name a few. Send the kids off to school and bring Brad back from this nightmare!!! I have been watching since 1980 and was just about to write ATWT off because of the stupid story lines when Brad came on board and things got interesting again. If he is really fired, I'm done.

I think the writer should make it all a bad dream for brad..seeing his own death and how people around him are dealing with it..I think Brad should wake up in the hospital after being out of it for a lil bit but i DO think Brad should come back and be with Katie and his baby..I think it is a HUGE mistake for As the world turns for them to get rid of Brad...Kill Damion off lol he wont matter either way

I am so mad, I cannot believe they killed Brad. There are so many other dull characters on the show to get rid of. I have watched it off and on but could never stay interested until the Brad/Katie story line. It's a great love story that does not have to end. Katie has had so many bad love matches and finally she found true love. You do not mess with true love if you want people to keep watching. And what is this about bring Simon and Mike back as if they could compare to Brad. Talk about brain dead storyline. Simon was a big boring kid. Mike got kind of boring too and he just did not wake up the charcter of Katie like Brad did. Who care whether Jack has a epitomy about shooting his brother that is a boring stoyline. Get real and find a way to bring back brad, he is by far the Sexiest guy on the show. What a shock, I would definately like to see someone else from the show go instead. He was one of my favorites and sometimes the reason I watched. Was looking forward to that storyline, much more than some of the others. Luke and Noah for instance in their storyline, nothing to do with the gender I just don't like their storylines.

Like everyone else I was stunned when it appeared Brad had actually died. I have to believe there's more to letting Austin Peck go than just infidelity. Are we saying that this show, that constantly deals in immorality at every turn, is taking the moral high ground? Austin was great as Brad and Katie and he were one of the more interesting couples. Like those before me, I find Lilly irritating and whining, Meg is a drone or a cutesy little smiley one, and Janet's thought process during Liberty's pregnancy was enough to irritate the Pope. I realize they were trying to give both sides, but.... At lease Paul has now a great sense of humor and he and Emily are very good together. However, the show does need some better ideas.

I've watched Y & R for 25 years and started with ATWT's about 4 years ago. I love ATWT's so much, I stopped watching Y and R. Releasing Austin Peck (Brad) from the show was a crazy idea. The show will never be the same. He was the best male actor on the show and so easy on the eyes! I am very disappointed and will stop watching the show.

I agree with everyone, losing Brad was the dumbest thing the writers could've done affair or no affair. Infidelity is horrible but he didn't commit homicide! Find another way to hand down consequences but you should've left his character alone! I also agree with the comments about about the new Lilly and Meg! I used to like Meg's character but she's become weak and pathetic. The old Lilly was forceful and somewhat independent. Bringing this new actress who can't act changed her entire personality! Now she's as pathetic as Meg and can't go to the bathroom without the okay from a man! The old Lilly was not like that.

If he had an affair, then he stepped on big toes, that made sure he was off. Like or not, affairs, happen all the time. I'm 61 years old. Yesterday, was my last day to watch the show. The writers can keep putting Carley and Jack UGHHHHHH, how about Holden and Lily, how much does one have to watch with that, again ugghhhhhh. Like so many other commentors before I could hardly believe my eyes when Dr. Bob called Brad's time of death. I've read that Mr. Peck may have been having an affair with some one on the show. If that is the reason for the firing then I ask you to please get off your high horse and solve this problem another way. Don't missunderstand I'm not in any way condoning infidelities I agree there must be something done but not to the extent of firing. So rehire Austin Peck apologize for the hasty decision and write him back in. Here's how you can do it---Katie's passed out in the dark warehouse from losing so much blood after giving birth, Brad enters the dark warehouse where Ralph is hiding Ralph grabs Brad, Jack finds his way in a back entrance Henry rushes inside through the front entrance calling for Jack, Ralph shots in the dark hiting Henry Brad Knocks Ralph to the floor and just as Ralph is about to shoot Brad Jack flips a switch and shoots Ralphie dead. Back up arrives they find Katie and the baby they're all taken to the hospital (Ralphie gets a free ride to the morgue) and all is well, except now there's an even bigger strain between Jack and Janet. I believe this will work What do you think?

I have watched ATWT since the mid 50's and it has always been my favorite soap. Lately there have been some very dumb/dull/long story lines. And some of the actors are boring--Janet, Meg and Lily for sure. Janet/Jack have NO chemistry, Meg is plain stupid and Lily doesn't know what she wants and is a poor actress. Killing off Brad is way out there. I kept thinking while he was holding the baby--his heart would start beating again. I watched GL every day also and they got cancelled, ATWT is on the same road,the writers better be careful. Start listening to your viewers, they are not stupid and you need them. And send Damien home with or without this new Lily. I would really hate to see ATWT be cancelled, it has been a great show for years--until recently. Make this show real and credible again.

I hope as the world turns realizes what a mistake they made.. Austin is a great actor. The whole Brad & Katie storyline was the major reason I kept watching. I am so sick of watching Holden & LIlly should they try again or shouldn't they, and it's just a matter of time before they try to pair Jack and Carly together again. I wouldn't doubt if they even try to get Jack and Katie together.. Enough is Enough. I think it's time soaps listen to what their fans want. I just can't believe that Austin Peck was let go. This man was a great actor and will be greatly missed. I hope as the world turns will start learning from the mistakes that guiding light made.. We as fans don't want to see the same crap. Holden & Lilly, Jack & Carly, it's about time you start hearing what your fans say, seeing as it's your fans along with your actors who make your show what it is..I wont watch this show anymore unless you find a way to bring Austin back. Killing of Brad did it for me. I started watching when Bob Hughes was a med student and I went through ups and downs, births and deaths but this one did it for me. I will no longer watch ATWT and I hope your ratings slide into the pits of hell. If the actor had to go, then recast; if the cast was too many, take out some of the weak ones. I stopped recording Guiding Light years ago, now it will be the same for As The World Turns. Too bad they didn't learn from others mistakes. Congrats to Y & R, and Bold and Beautiful for writing stories that keep us tuned in everyday, and listen to their viewers. Oh well have more free time to do other things. Note to Austin Peck you were so fun to watch!

CBS is really getting stupid. Brad was my favorite character, and Brad and Katie were the reason I kept tuning in. They should be ashamed of themselves. Budget cuts?! There were so many other actors that no one would have minded to see go. ATWT-- I don't care if Mike and Simon are coming back. I think you just lost many devoted fans. Consider this your kiss of death and we'll sit back and watch you endure the same fate as Guiding Light.

I am really upset about Brad being killed off. They need to do something to bring him back or they will be loosing another viewer. I completly agree with Rytah-Texas. You could have killed off any of the others but why Brad. He and Katie was the only reason I was still watching the show. Then to kill him off without warning. That made it even worse.
Oh, has Janet completly lost her mind. Why the hell would Jack include he had been drinking. I feel the situation would have happened the same way regardless. It was dark. Katie needs to blame herself really. Why would she go to a known mobster and threaten him. As if she was going to scare him with a phone call. This is when the soaps start to piss me off when they just become unrealistic. Oh well, it's all for entertainment purposes.

That was so stupid that they killed the character brad off!!!! Katie and Brad were so happy and he was a major part of the show... And now poor katie after everything they have gone through come on.. He didn't even get see his son.. And to just kill him off... I am not watching the show anymore it is so stupid!!!!

i can't believe they killed brad! i really liked him! poor liberty, first the baby-which was totally lame by the way, i mean wow a guy ran into her? yeah, that causes miscariages of babies all the time. but seriously depressing killing brad. i really liked him, now we get to see katie, and the snyder family again, be super depressed and total messes. i saw enough of that when holden 'died'...i kinda wish brad could come back from the dead somehow...............astwt is making some really bad story lines here! craig/rosanna? wtf; henry and the mom? wtf; anything dusty? wtf, just kill him already. holden and the ugly woman? wtf; damien holding on in such a lame way? emily and paul suddenly married and wanting a baby! all bad!!!!!

The new Lily is a whiny, pathetic mess, and is played by a terrible actress who is not at all living up to the incredible storyline of the character she's supposed to be playing. Lily Snyder is strong, a fighter, passionate (whether it's Holden or Damian), and can put together a coherent thought/sentence. If you can't bring back the old Lily, dear god find someone else to play her.

Why would you write a person off the show and they just had a son and their family is coming together? There is enough bad things happening in the world today. It breaks my heart that Brad was written off the show. He was great to look at plus cute, sexy and funny. Janet and Jack are boring together no chemistry. Katie and Brad made the show!!! Otherwise most of the other storylines are just corny (Vienna and Henry), boring - Emily and Paul. Dusty could be great of they gave him something more to do than chase the bad guy. He is a sexy devil - give him a love story (another one like the one with Jennifer). Brad's demise will sorely be missed.

Who cares if Brad goes? I used to watch ATWT in the eighties and nineties. I recently began watching again after about a ten year break. It is a bit boring, but I am now a stay at home mom with nothing else to watch. I wish they would bring in a blast from the past like Steve Andropolis or bring back the "real" Craig Montgomery. The Carly storyline about being an alcoholic was interesting, maybe they could do more with that.
Without Brad, ATWT's is going to be so boring.

Rumors of Mike and Katie again?...How boring! Yipes! That is almost as bad as Katie and Jack (that was so painful)Why couldn't they get rid of Jack instead of Brad. Brad was funny and cute. Jack is always pissed off and yelling and arguing. I like Paul, Henry, Emily, Katie and sometimes Meg. But if Brad leaves the show especially right after the baby is born, there is just nothing to keep me watching.

I have watched this show for almost 50 years
I am really getting tired of it. Having Jack kill Brad!!!! Whose ideal was that?? Then Liberty lost her baby and her dad...... Katie dilivered a baby in a warehouse with nothing... who cut the cord????? and with what????? I look for it to close if the storylines continue to be so STUPID I have decided I am not watching it anymore yesterday Oct 23rd was my last day.... I don't understand why the writer have gone STUPID

Why can't they kill off one of the other actors on the show. Brad was a funny character and great to look at! Let's get rid of Luke or Noah. Even better, that terrible actor that plays Parker.
