I feel like most fans can agree that two of the biggest things wrong with General Hospital is the lack of romance and the lack of family relationships. These are the two things that drive the soap genre and make its fictional towns go around in its soapy circle. In theory these should be the easiest to write, but for some reason GH can't seem to get there.

I remember when I first fell in love with Jason Morgan. I recognized the potential of Jason as quite possibly the most romantic man in Port Charles. I liked his innocence and the unique way he looked at things and mostly, his love for Robin. It was pure, made of all the great things that first loves are until it wasn't anymore and they moved on to other couplings. I often think about that scene at the Scorpio house when I think about his character and the potential I thought he had then and wonder what happened.

They say that slow and steady wins the race, and in soap world, it makes for a perfectly pristine and entertaining story. Jumping the gun after tripping from the very start is bound to end in disaster. And like most storylines on this show, Kristina's dragged out over the last year, was never paid the appropriate amount of attention when it should have been.

I'm dumbfounded as to why the writers of this show are only capable of telling two major stories right now. This show has a large, talented cast that's being used to prop one of these two stories, and not only is it exhausting to see all the talent wasted, but it's beyond annoying.

Y&R is everything a soap opera is supposed to be and having been deprived of it for so long, I'm not ready to let it go.
