With the ABC Daytime soaps hitting record low ratings across the board, something has to be done sooner than later or else they're going to be in more trouble than they already are. Soap Opera Source is reaching out to all fans of "All My Children," "General Hospital," and "One Life to Live" to find out how they would do things differently.
If you regularly watch the ABC soaps and are unhappy with the direction of your show, what kinds of stories would you like to see? We don't want to hear how "X Couple" will save the show; we want to know what you would do if you were in charge. How would you fix what's "wrong" with your show? What do you feel is causing the decline in ratings? If you are no longer a viewer of ABC, why did you stop watching? What would it take to bring you back?
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we will publish the best entries. On Saturday we will publish modified versions of those not published in full.

... Reunnite Erica/Jackson and the K/M family. Get Ryan his OWN woman. Bring Dixie back. Hook up Adam with Liza again. Stop putting children at death's door. Stop murdering off our vets. Stop bringing people on from other shows and utlilize the cast we have. Bring back romance and humor. |

More GH stuff! Just wanted to add to my previous comment about GH, from everything I have read. This summer will be mainly about Sonny's kids. Though I don't mind, they need to bring back more of the core families. Bring back Ned and what about bringing back a few of the Hardys and Webbers, that has been the problem with this soap, it almost never sticks with the history of the show. Wonder why the ratings are in the toilet. |

Please bring some of the characters that have paid their dues come from the backburner! Stop bringing new character to the show and telling their background stories without showing some of the older characters past! I have been waiting for a certain actor to be brought from the backburner to the front and I keep getting other characters pushed in my face! I would go on but that would be ranting! |

All my Childre I stopped watching AMC due to the introduction of weird characters and lesbian story lines. I understand AMC was trying to be edgy, but it was just too much. Most of their new characters were boring and without personality. Also I did not see enough Tad. I could watch him every scene. He's the best actor on daytime tv. |

Making ABC soaps great again!!! First AMC, Clearly Pratt is making this show look like Melrose Place, where he was a writer. I like Jamie Luner, too, but she should have been Skye, not Liza. I agree with Gina, bring back Dimitri, Wildwind was his family's place, plus I would like to see Dimitri kick David and Krystal out on their butts. Bring back Julia Barr and Brooke, Tad needs a lady and she and Erica can have it out all the time. Bring back Greg and Jenny as well and maybe another Courtlandt. And if you are bringing new faces to the fold, make them iconic characters that people will actually know and care about. Bring in another Colby this one is not working and Ambyr Chambers was terrific as Colby. Jack needs family especially now bring back Reggie and/or Lily. Bring in a well-known soap actor as a new love interest for Erica. The Hubbards are great as always. Put Zendall back together and have Ryan give up women for a while, please. Keep Brot, I think he is terrific and keep Jake and Amanda together. OLTL: Even though this soap has been the best of three, in the last six months, it has been showing cracks too. Why are they getting rid of Ray, when he and Dorian are just starting to heat up. Do we have to be subjected to Stacy everyday and on every storyline? I am sure there are things that Ron C. would love to do, (since he has been there for years and years and knows the show's history) but he can't for whatever reason. And if the rumors are true about phasing out Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser, then the show will not be worth watching. GH: I agree with Gerri, I mean even the Sporanos' gang had to pay for their crimes. This is General Hospital!!! I also agree with rhda on the first part of her comment except for Spinelli, have him cut a deal and work for Robert and Anna, and I love him with Maxie. Make Jason a Quartermaine again and he and Elizabeth can be together. Make Rebecca, Emily and be done with it already. I love Natalia Livingston, but her trying to play a badgirl is not working. Can we also find out who Sam's biological father is? Basically, ABC needs to write better meaningful stories keep their vets, as well as develop new characters, hey those are some of the reasons why Y&R has been number one for years now. ABC execs need to get their act together and clean house of some of the soaps' writers and producers and Frons. If they don't, by this time next year one or two of their soaps could be on the chopping block. Thanks for letting us vent |

Fixing AMC Ryan is not a super star. In fact, he hasn't accomplished anything of note. Why do so many women fall madly in love with him? Why would Kendall leave Zach for Ryan? He is a simpleton who needs to be knocked down a few pegs. Or better yet, he needs to go. |

... I would fix the show by focusing more on the families that have been the core of the show. I want more balance between the hospital and the mob. I want to see the show focus more on relationships and marriage, friendships, I would definitely like to see couples struggling with problems together than apart. I would like to see strong women and not all this sleaze. I want to see love and romance not this using your body to get what they want crap. I am not talking about just GH but all other ABC"S Daytime shows. The show seem to focus more on violence towards women and kids and death to much and that is why I tuned out, it is not just for a couple and the storylines are recycle writing no creative. There is nothing on all these shows that hold my interest anymore. |

to fix GH Bring back Anna, Duke, Holly & Robert (Robert and Anna can investigate Duke and Holly can infiltrate)... then have the 4 of them crush the mob & put Sonny, Rick, Jason, Johnny, Claudia & Spinelli in jail. If Jason turns states evidence and promises to be a Quartermaine again he can have probation instead. Get rid of Jax, he bores me. In fact, if you are on the show and are not related to a family that goes back at least 20 years (that's the last time the ratings were good) you must leave or go on back burner. AMC, OLTL, GH I've watched all 3 soaps off and on since I was in high school and I'm now 51. I agree with everyone here about keeping the "veterans". They ARE veterans because people do like them and their storylines. Some of the "newer" actors can't act their way out of a paper bag. AMC - Please let Ryan take a vacation - a looong vacation. OLTL - this is about the only AMC soap I can't complain TOO much about right now GH - it's called General Hospital NOT the Sopranos! I do enjoy "fun" interactions between the characters and would love to see more of that. |
