Okay that's it... I've had enough. Message to the General Hospital powers that be, sometimes you just can't go back again.

I was there in 2006 when Jason dumped Sam in the hospital and spent the summer pushing her away from him and a life she fully understood, while becoming BFFs with Liz again. I was there when Jason used the fact that Sam slept with Ric to justify sleeping with Liz, who admittedly walked up 15 flights of stairs in pitch black darkness to sleep with Jason after seeing Lucky with Maxie. Sam came clean; she took her hits, with more to come once Jason decided that he was in love with Liz, but it supposedly had nothing to do with the fertile Myrtle conceiving yet another one night stand bastard from their tequila laced tryst. And Lucky took his hits as well for his drug addiction and affair with Maxie and for months Liz used his actions to justify her own and cover up the lie that she was pregnant with Jason's child instead of her husband's (again).

It was difficult because honestly I loved Jasam so much I couldn't imagine ever loving another couple the way I loved them. I was positive that I would never allow myself to invest in another General Hospital romance. But somehow, well I know how... Kelly Monaco, Greg Vaughan and their amazing and undeniable chemistry, I did fall in loving with a General Hospital pairing again. I fell in love with LuSam. They started out so wrong and yet became so right.

The beauty of a soap is that a couple can start out as a game of seduction and revenge and turn into so much more and despite the odds and I'm sure the intention of everyone in the GH front office, that's just what Sam and Lucky did. They become a real, genuine, unstoppable couple in their own right. They were no longer just the products of their last relationships or the discarded exes of Jason and Liz, causalities of the so-called bond that's existed since that night Jason first saved Liz at Jake's (excuse me while I vomit). Lucky and Sam built a relationship based on trust, honesty, love, adventure and acceptance all on their own. And just when the going was getting good and the I love yous were finally being declared, GH decides to stall them to perpetuate this never ending quad where Lucky and Sam are suppose to resign as the defaults to Liz and Jason respectively because their ill-advised relationship never had a chance with the constant whine about danger an all.

Well I'm not going to stand for it. Like Greg said, there is a reason why Lucky and Liz are exes, same with Jason and Sam. What each of those couples had that made them great is gone and can't be recaptured no matter how many family scenes Lucky and Liz get with Cameron and Jake, no matter how many times Jason (instead of Lucky) comes to Sam's rescue. There was a lot of betrayal and broken trust committed during 2006 and 2007 that cannot be glossed over and overlooked in some pathetic plot point stunt. The sum of Jasam's problems do not rest solely on Sam's shoulders so the show reducing everything that happened that summer to Sam letting Maureen take Jake isn't going to erase the months Jason spent lying to Sam about knocking Liz up, not to mention offering to marry Liz without even telling Sam what the hell was going on. Nor will a few scenes of Liz by default realizing how great of a friend and father for her kids she has in Lucky going to make me forget the solid year she spend lying to him about Jake's paternity only for everyone from his oldest friend to even his own mother to act like Liz did nothing wrong. Liz completely emasculated Lucky as she used his addiction to cover her ass repeatedly and turned his justified fears about her relationship with Jason against him even though she had already declared to love Jason repeatedly, including once in Lucky's own home.

{xtypo_quote}Sam: I like being with you. And, when I'm with you I feel like you see me for who I really am instead of making me feel like I'm not worthy or that you can't give me something that I need. And, when I look into your eyes, even in the most intimate moments, I feel like I'm not begging you for something that you can't give me.

Lucky: You just put into words exactly what I was feeling.{/xtypo_quote}

Soaps are a dying genre and a big part of that is because of the lack of character driven writing an audience can find in soaps nowadays. In essence the stories aren't that much different than one can find in a primetime medium, but between the same characters going through these situations over and over again and in many cases there being no actual story progression or character growth, the fans are understandably getting tired, frustrated and just turning the television off during the day. Instead of yet again putting Lucky and Liz back together as if there is no chance either of them could really be with someone else keep Lucky and Sam together and let Lucky's life be about more than just caring for Liz and her kids. Lucky can be a fantastic father without being with Liz. Everyday people in this country co-parent their children and even stay friends while leading separate lives that don't include them being altogether all the time like they're still a couple.

Lucky and Liz are no longer a couple so if Lucky's going to spend time with the boys, Sam, not Liz should be there. Liz wanted to be a single mother, so let her be a single mother. If it isn't important, or truly about the kids, than there's no need for Liz to call Lucky and there is even less need for him to drop what he's doing, meaning Sam, to make sure that Liz is okay. Being the default isn't fair to Lucky and it isn't fair for Sam. Sam has been generous and understanding about the connection between Lucky and Liz, but I do not want her once again watching the man that loves her running to save Liz from herself because Liz can't seem to do anything without a man to help her and since her first choice is gone, she'll once again settle for Lucky.

I honestly don't care what happens to Jason and Liz. Since their fans have supposedly been waiting for 10 years, I say let them be together. If the world knows Jake is Jason's than it won't matter whether or not they're together, the kid will still be a target, so Liz and Jason might as well be together and deal with whatever threat comes their way together, without Lucky there forced to hold Liz's hand and tell her that she's a good mother after she's spent 2 years chasing after Jason with no regard for the consequences. But leave my LuSam alone. Sam does love adventure, but that adventurous part of her personality has nothing to do with Jason or even necessarily actual real danger. Hoping on a plane to Mexico at a moments' notice is fun for Sam as well, fun she had with Lucky. Lucky meanwhile is more than just a cop, or even Laura's son, he's a Spencer and there's a hellcat in there waiting to get out and Sam is the perfect woman to help bring out more of that side of Lucky's personality. So let's stop being lazy and spitting on the fans and keep Lucky and Sam together, move them forward... in one residence together (not the Spencer house by the way) and end the quad for good.

Jasam is RUINING GH
They are the BIGGEST ratings FLOP in the history of GH. Nobody gives a crap about Sam, for every one person that loves that tramp, there are THREE that hate her guts. The ratings debacle is due to JASON. What kind of a man would walk away from his ONLY child because his life is too dangerous, then BACK to the slut that herself endangered the kid twice. Jason is a douche bag, the ratings will continue to slide. GH will be cancelled which is as it should be. If recycling tired, non-believable couples, where one is a straight up baby napping whore, and we're supposed to buy this is 'true love' then they have no business being on the air. Cya GH.

I can't argue.
I think for awhile LuSam really worked. It worked despite crappy writting and no investment in the pairing. Kelly and Greg made it work better then I ever expected it to. This pairing was clearly torn apart to bring the characters around to their old pairings after Liason were written into a corner. The sudden turn around in Lucky wasn't unexpected for me because I never believed Lucky would be allowed to build his own life apart from LL2. Lucky's the butt of the joke and never allowed to become his own man-a leading man with a story of his own.

With Sam Lucky was a stronger better man. Sam trusted Lucky. She didn't undercut him at every opprotunity. Sam understood having flaws and having made serious mistakes but didn't use that against him to get her way or to make herself seem right and Lucky wrong. I was really starting to like them.

Now, Lucky's no where in sight. The scenes with Liz and Lucky fall flat and the relationship has stalled. JaSam seem to be on the rebound but I'm now a skeptic. Jason hasn't changed or learned anything since he broke Sam's heart in that hospital room after she woke from her coma. I don't want Sam to be the default proze because Jason can't make it work with his "family". Sam deserves more. Jason couldn't give her what she needed the last time around and doesn't seem to get that what he did was wrong. So I find myself picking apart every comment and being the skeptic. IMO Jason doesn't deserve to get Sam back. I like their friendship and when they work together it's nice but how do I beleive it if he says he loves her? He loved her when he proposed to Liz, lied to her, then he turned to Liz without explaination. Jason's love doesn't seem to be worth much these days.

Jason and Sam
They are a couple that I think would be great together. To all those who say that Jason should leave the mob, just get it straight there is no Jason without it! It's part of what makes him, him!
Thats exactly why he belongs with Sam because she wouldnt want to change that because she knows how that is a huge part of who he is. Lizard wouldnt understand it even if she tried, so she should just stop trying. JaSam needs to come back on the seen for '09!smilies/grin.gif

JASAM will ALWAYS be a supercouple
they had to be torn apart to pimp a flop aka jiz
jiz never had any sparks, a drunken ONS adultrous session
does not make a couple

tearing down Sam and Lucky for Jiz, well that in and of itself
reeks of total desperation, 8 yrs of what...oh yeah btwn all the
divorces and splits, they HAD to be drunk to have sex, it was NOT
making love, because jason was thinking and hurting for sam

as for the ratings, yup, they began the downslide when Jason was written out of character (lying, betraying), and kept on when both
Lucky and Sam's characters were destroyed so the saint could
finally after 8 yrs bang jason *yawn*

the reason the ratings continue to slide are 1) some ppl were
just turned off and disgusted by the writing that destroyed Jasam
as well as LL2 2) rebound coupled are generally doomed, so why
invest time 3)too many boring newbies brought in 4) many ppl are
having to work more than one job due to the continued recession
5) it so easy to watch on-line now when ppl get that moment to sit

sooooooooo, when the writers repair JaSam and LL2, and IF they
write them as they did before the summer of crapola, ppl may
come back....JaSam was strong, they got each other, they knew without
saying what the other was thinking, and Jason actually admitted that
he talked more to and with Sam than he ever has with anyone...Lucky
deserves to have the family that he didnt growing up

ponder that folks

Jasam love forever
The breakup of Jasam should have never happened! If LL2 needed angst
or a break, it should have come from somewhere else imo.
A ONS after 10 years, to me, does not erase the years of Jasam.
Jasam has had real substance, real story, the slow buildup was just
AWESOME to watch! To me, THAT is REAL soap story! NOT a ONS after 10
years, after watching Jason tell Sonny, "yes, I want a child, but I
want it with Sam". THAT is where Jasons' heart was and stayed till
the big reveal. Jasam fans seen it coming a mile away. I never got
onboard the Lusam bus, I didn't see with Lusam, what I saw and felt with Jasam. A great believeable couple had to be decimated to have
Liason. Guess what? LIASON still was not believable imo.
I do hope Jasam is coming back, I have missed them terribly! THEY are my reason for tuning into GH, THEY kept me hooked.

ratings
yes liasonfan, the ratings are down 200,000 from last year, BUT last year's ratings were down (an average) of 500,000 from 2007.

Frons isn't trying to get the show back to the ratings during the Quad story, he's trying to get the ratings back to what it was *before* that...

And TPTB are not "biased" - that implies that they're supposed to be impartial, like a news organization. How the heck would you run a show like that?? That's ridiculous. They're job is to try and put the best show out there. Now we may disagree about how they're going about doing that, but I have no idea where you got this idea that they're supposed to be "unbiased" LOL

jiz NEVER should have happened..the writers got lazy and wrote everyone out of character in order to bust up LL2 and JaSam.

the author is right, elizabeth is always the saint, no matter what she does or who she does it to. BORING. Lucky who is with his 'soulmate' for HOW LONG, cant managed to get her pregnant, when i was SO EASY for a ONS with both Zander and Jason (who USED A CONDOM) to knock her up? thats lazy and highly unlikely too.

the writers dont write carly, sonny, jax, nik this way..why LL2 and JaSam ?? I love the Sam that came on fiery and hot and spunky with Jack, this is the Sam that softened while pregnant, nurtured by jason she opened up, loved and trusted for THE FIRST TIME, then he blindly and stupidly lets his 'so-called friend who cares so much' basically ruin that lovestory by LYING AND BETRAYING the woman he asked to marry him twice!?

if LL2 are boring, dont blame it on JaSam! bring back JJ for BH
or give her a new man, but she has said over and over and over, she wants to put her kids first, their safety and happiness above hers, she needs to get a damn backbone and for once DO WHAT SHE SAYS ! she wont be the first woman to sacrifice for her kids! she herself has said so many times i lost count that she 'cant deal with jasons life', she doesnt 'accept his choices', she cant handle the danger.

maybe GH will hire BH RL hubby for her, that might be cute. but she needs to realize Jason is something that wasnt meant to be, be happy with what she has and grateful for what it gave her and move on.

Anyone else getting tired of the JaSam/Liason/LuSam debate?
I appreciate the time that this writer spent on their post and I respect their opinion, but honestly this debate is getting old. The same things are being said repeatedly (on all sides). I would respond to some of the points brought up in this post, but why bother? This entire conversation is getting as repetitive as GH's storytelling.

I will say one thing...towards the end of the post the writer said that TPTB were being lazy by putting JaSam together again. Actually, if you've noticed there's been a few shake-ups recently in pairings and stories on GH. Over the past year and a half - two years, the ratings have dropped (the show for some time has been hovering around 2.1-2.3). The quality of the show has taken a nose dive, I think that can be agreed on by everyone.

It's been reportedly recently that Frons has stepped in and dictated changes. The Liason/LuSam breakups is just one of MANY changes to the show. *If* there is a JaSam reunion, it won't be out of "laziness" it'll be because it'll fit in with the overall vision of the show which TPTB are hoping will get GH back on track creatively.
