Here's some news even Mr. Feenycan't fix. Boy Meets World papa William Russ has been ousted at The Young and the Restless. The actor, who debuted as billionaire business tycoon Tucker McCall on December 2nd has been abruptly replaced by soap stud Stephen Nichols (ex-Stefan, GH; ex-Patch, DAYS).
According to TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan, Nichols is scheduled to begin taping tomorrow and will first appear on air January 27th. Head writer/Co-executive producer Maria Arena Bell states, "William Russ is a talented actor and we enjoyed working with him. However, we decided to take the character in another direction." Co-executive producer Paul Rauch adds, "[Russ] did a wonderful job while he was here."
It looks like Tucker may soon be getting some ties to a major Genoa City player, which may have been the reason for the recast. Nichols, who was very vocal after he was very publically fired from Days of Our Lives earlier this year, finds himself on yet another Sony soap after his much heralded return to Days fell flat. Nichols and co-star Mary Beth Evans couldn't hit their stride as Patch & Kayla on Days once the supercouple era was over. Gaining new fans that were unfamiliar with the characters of Patch & Kayla proved too daunting a task to overcome with the stories given and the two were let go amid massive budget cuts. Nichols recently appeared in an episode of the Starz series Crash.
We're wondering how long Russ's fellow ex-TGIFer Darius McCrary will air as Malcolm before he's recast with a capable soap vet like Rhasaan Orange.

... I think Y&R is pretty boring most of the time. Wm. Russ changed that, he was interesting. They replaced him with yet another "sweet faced" young guy that has no personality. I'd rather chew on tin-foil than watch another episode of Y&R without Russ. |

You've already creeped out your fans with some REALLY bad writing the past year...put your thinking caps on and give us some fresh material that is actually believable instead of insulting our intelligence! |

what???? What the heck happened to the original Tucker, he was very fitting for the role. This scrappy looking punk now is not doing the job. Bring Russ (Tucker) back!! We the fans should have a say in some of this, after all we are the ones that help pay your salaries thru purchasing products that sponsor the show.. |

None William Russ is a fine actor but for me he wasn't believable as the maverick billionaire type. Stephen Nichols is a soap veteran who has the ability to take roles and make them his own. That's why his characters of Steve Patch Johnson on Days and Stefan Cassadine were became so popular. He's absolutely wonderful!! |

I have watched the Y & R since it began, but this is the first time that I am really upset with your replacement of and actor on your show. So now Jill will be sleeping with someone young enough to be her son. Let's get back to reality a little bit here. The Ashley preganacy ordeal was so unbelieveable, no one could be that dumb in real life, so why do the writers think their viewers are??? |
